Here is a brief overview of what our different types of classes are about.
Basics Classes
Basics classes are designed for students new to the sport of boxing, Muay Thai or kickboxing, students who have previously trained elsewhere before joining Prestige but not to a high technical standard or for anyone wanting to brush up on the technique and improve effectiveness. Basics would dissect and analyze every single technique making sure that theoretically everyone understand the details behind it and start gradually practicing the movements at controllable pace making sure that techniques cure into correct shape.
You would get to learn intricacies around the stance proportion, grip, weight distribution, balance, footwork mechanics, static to dynamic flow, striking force and channeling the force through basic punches and defense movements as well as fluently linking together any two techniques learned.
Basics are generally low impact class mainly involving shadowing the techniques in front of the mirror, doing drills with partner or light impact target striking to avoid unnecessary injuries and drill into the body correct movement patterns in the initial stage.
Group Classes
Group classes (Boxing, Muay Thai & Kickboxing) are all about implementation of technique and learning the implementation of tactics, conditioning and sharpening reflexes with medium to strong impact target striking and partner drills. For this class a solid understanding and ability to demonstrate all movements covered in basics is absolutely necessary.
Sparring
Sparring (all styles), which is self-explanatory will be permitted only to the students who demonstrate the level of skill sufficient to safely engage in one on one combat in their respective training discipline. Full personal protective equipment is required for sparring. The knowledge of rules and scoring is also required to optimize effectiveness of training.
Open Matt and Fighters Camp Class
Open matt and Fighters Camp class is a joint class allocated for all the competitors preparing for upcoming competitions and those who want to do a specific training on their own and practice to improve in certain areas of their preferences.
